Toledo Party Magicians

In all honesty, it isn't that difficult finding a magician who can pull some standard tricks out of his sleeve. Even greenhorn magicians know some of the basics. However, it isn't so easy finding a magician to be the highlight of your event and have your guests trying to unravel the illusions on the ride home. Even though Toledo magicians come in all shapes and sizes, certain magicians have undeniable specialities, and your goal is finding one who has proven success with events like the one you're planning.

A kid's magician or an adult's magician?

Even more important than finding the right style of magician for your party is determining the age group in which the magician specializes. There is a huge difference between magicians for kids and magicians for adults, and some Toledo magicians specialize in one or the other. Typically a child's magician won't need the same skill set as an adult's magician. For one, adults may even be able to spot out some tricks from a less qualified magician, while for a children's magicians, there's no need to overpay for elaborate acts if a simple card trick or pulling a rabbit out a hat will shock them all the same. For a kid's party a clown/magician hybrid is sure to be a hit since the magician will offer both a funny and amusing performance.

Find the right magician for your event

A standard stage magician will be your best bet for a child's birthday party or a corporate event, However, if you are not sure of the partygoers' ability to quiet down and watch the performance, you may want to go with what's known as a “strolling magician”. These magicians blend into the party and offer a greater level of personal interaction. So if you're renting out a banquet or bar for an adult's party, go for a magician who can rove around the venue performing quick tricks and moving on to another guest. For this tip, forget the cliches — no capes, no top hats and certainly no wands. A nonchalant magician who fits perfect into a bar atmosphere will work wonders for these types of events.

Asking the right questions

Only begin calling around once you have decided the specifics of your party. This is one of the best ways to save yourself from disappointment. First off, you want to be sure of their professional experience. To weed out unprofessional magicians, simple questions like “for how long have you been a professional magician?”, “is this your full-time job?”, and “do you have liability insurance” are key. If you're planning on a real magic show complete with fireworks, animals or even hypnosis, you need a magician with insurance. Once your comfortable with the magician's level of professionalism, questions concerning the event should follow. Ask things like “do you perform for both children and adults”, “do you bring along any props like birthday presents, balloon art or face painting?” and most importantly, “can you guarantee the performance will be appropriate for children?”
